Today I was thinking about how I might include some of the information and technologies that we have been learning about into my teaching practices. As I mentioned earlier, I think that there are many ways that I can include Stop Motion Animation into my English classes, but how can some of this other technology be used?
Well the digitial photo editing that we looked at today (programs like Gimp and Photoshop) could be used to make political "cartoons" in a socials class. Students could change around the faces on a picture in order to make a political statement. Another project might see students create their own "Time" magazine cover, with captions that would show why they chose the particular historical figure as their subject.
Students could use animation programs like pencl to create "graphic short stories" for an english class. This would hopefully engage students who were interested in graphic novels or who wished to express themselves graphically, while still getting students to show that they understand the concepts associated with short stories.
I am still working on the Stop Motion Animation. I have recruited my brothers to help with the production on Sunday, and should be through most of the filming by Sunday night.
